THREE MUNICIPALITIES have reportedly sealed partnerships with the country's weather agency to improve warning systems and thus safeguard crops.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding with mayors of Gerona in Tarlac, Irosin in Sorsogon, and Tubigon in Bohol entitling their towns to continuous mentoring and capacity building from the agency, Rice Watch and Action Agency (R1) said in a statement.

The envisioned system will warn farmers of upcoming extreme weather conditions and give them ample time to prepare defenses to minimize the effects of climate change on agricultural production.
